Are you our new brilliant Part-Time Marketing and Sales Assistant (20 hours)?

Boom Chicago is looking for a part-time Marketing and Sales Assistant to help the department and sell more seats for each show. In addition to helping the Marketing Manager, this person has the exciting task of being on top of the sales of each show. Based on how fast or slow ticket sales are going, this person makes changes in (dynamic) pricing. They’ll track trends, analyze audience demand, and be the one with a finger on the pulse of each show’s popularity. It’s a role that combines creativity, strategy, and flexibility. This is one of the best jobs at Boom Chicago. OK, fine… after comedian.

Boom Chicago recently celebrated 30 years in Amsterdam which means the owners are now in their 50s. Yikes. We have an exciting venue on the Rozengracht with three theaters and a beautiful bar with a soaring ceiling. There are Boom Chicago shows, improv classes, visiting comedians, and exciting events in our building every. A typical week could have corporate events, a burlesque show, a political roundup, a TV filming, a festival and, of course, lots of comedy shows.

Each of these is a separate mini project that needs attention, and the ideal person would like to be busy. Can you make things happen? Do you love comedy and like to laugh (both at shows and at work)? Then Boom Chicago could be for you.

This isn’t your average marketing or assistant job. It is currently part-time (20 hours a week), but has the possibility to grow. It’s the best of many worlds: You analyze the show sales and pivot quickly based on what’s going on. You’ll work closely with our Marketing Manager to track the numbers, but also influence how we promote our shows and create strategies that get people in those seats. The hands-on owners, the Marketing Manager and the marketing team all move quickly. Can you support? Can you lead? Can you keep up?

Your specific background is less important than your energy. The right person can come from many situations. You do not need to have worked in a theater. But you should be a curious generalist who learns quickly and isn’t a winner or a jerk. You need to not be afraid to ask questions, but also not be afraid to make decisions to move things forward.

We’re looking for someone who…

  • gets what’s going on and can think for themselves
  • goes out and knows what’s happening in town
  • can help move projects forward and finish things
  • has good ideas and high standards
  • is positive and optimistic. Boo complainers.
  • understands tech even if they haven’t used a particular program
  • communicates well in English (and Dutch is a plus)
  • loves comedy and bringing people together

If you are creative, reliable, and ready to contribute to our vibrant team, we would love to hear from you! Send your application letter and resume to machiel@boomchicago.nl.
