Geweldige uitdagende baan bij Boom Chicago als Technisch Manager
Introductie
Boom Chicago zoekt per direct een nieuwe technische manager voor ongeveer 36 uur per week. Boom Chicago, creatief ensemble met een eigen theatercomplex op de Rozengracht in hartje Jordaan, viert dit jaar hun 30 jarig jubileum tijdens het derde Boom Chicago Comedy Festival Dertig jaar geleden introduceerden zij improvisatietheater bij het Nederlandse publiek en inmiddels hebben ze meer dan een miljoen mensen aan het lachen gemaakt.
Boom Chicago is eveneens een kweekvijver van Amerikaans comedy talent. Bekende Amerikaanse comedians als Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele en de makers van Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt en Joe Kelly begonnen allemaal hun carrière bij het comedygezelschap in Amsterdam. Het creatieve team is constant bezig met innoveren op het gebied van comedy, muziek en techniek. Omdat er continu van alles gebeurt is Boom Chicago een bruisende plek om te bezoeken en een dynamische plek om te werken.
De Venue
De Boom Chicago venue heeft drie zalen, een bar en een catering keuken. De grote zaal biedt plaats aan 330 mensen, terwijl de kleine bovenzaal plaats heeft voor 140 mensen. Dan is er nog een attic theatertje met zo’n 35 plaatsen. De venue wordt gebruikt voor theatervoorstellingen van Boom Chicago zelf maar ook voor gast comedians, muziek producties, bedrijfsevenementen, livestream producties en allerlei creatieve events.
De Baan
Als Hoofd Techniek geef je leiding aan het technische team, dat alle technische zaken verzorgt bij de voorstellingen en evenementen van Boom Chicago. Daarnaast zijn er ook voorstellingen en workshops die op andere podia worden gespeeld/gegeven. Je werkt samen met het creatieve team van acteurs, een muzikaal leider, het front of house team en het sales team om van elk evenement een groot succes te maken. Het technische beheer en upgrades van het pand vallen ook onder deze functie.
De specifieke taken en verantwoordelijkheden:

Zelfstandig voorstellingen draaien en daarin samenwerken met cliënten, front of house, een creatief team en het sales team;

Eindverantwoordelijk voor de gehele technische dienstverlening in Boom Chicago en bij voorstellingen of evenementen op locatie;

Communicatie met klanten over technische benodigdheden om alles zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden.

Leiding geven aan het technische team inc functioneringsgesprekken en evaluaties

Planning en recruitment van technisch personeel.

Verantwoordelijk voor een optimale staat van alle technische voorzieningen in het pand.

Creatieve input voor verbeteringen van alle technische voorzieningen in het pand.

Beheren van onderhoudsbudget, voorstellen doen voor investeringen in gebouw en techniek;

Contact onderhouden met externe partijen zoals leveranciers, technici, verhuurders;
-
Verantwoordelijk voor het bewaken van de technische kwaliteit van het gebouw, eigen producties en techniek.

Deelnemen aan de wekelijkse Operations Meetings om alle producties te evalueren en komende producties voor te bereiden.
Gewenst profiel:

Je bent in staat goed overzicht te houden en hebt oog voor detail;

Je hebt tenminste 3 jaar ervaring in podiumtechniek en ervaring in een leidinggevende functie;

Je houdt van innovaties op het gebied van techniek in theater en probeert continu actief te blijven vernieuwen en groeien in ons theater.

Je bent bereid om op onregelmatige tijden te werken, dus uiteraard in de avonden en de weekends.

Je hebt affiniteit met comedy en improvisatie theater.

Je bent vaardig in zowel Nederlands als Engels in woord en geschrift.

Fun (and challenging) job as Boom Chicago’s Tech Manager
Introduction
Boom Chicago is looking for a 36 hour per week technical manager. The Amsterdam creative ensemble has its own theater complex at the Rozengracht. We celebrate our 30th anniversary this year at the third edition of the Boom Chicago Comedy Festival.
Boom Chicago is a breeding ground for American comedy talent. Well-known American comedians like Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele and the stars and creators of Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly) all started their careers in Amsterdam. We are constantly innovating in the fields of comedy, music and technology which makes Boom Chicago a vibrant place to visit, and a dynamic place to work.
The Venue
The Boom Chicago venue has three theaters, a bar and a catering kitchen. The main hall can accommodate 330 people, while the smaller Upstairs Theater holds 130 people. The Attic Theater seats 35. We host Boom Chicago shows, guest comedians, music productions, live-stream digital productions and all kinds of creative events.
The Job
The Tech Manager leads the technical team and is responsible for sound, lights, stage and mics for performances, events and workshops. (s)he works with the creative team of actors, a musical director, the front of house team and the sales team to make every event a success. The technical management and upgrades of the building also fall under this function.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Runs performances and collaborates with clients, front of house, the creative team and the sales team;
- Has final responsibility for the tech at Boom Chicago and for performances on location;
- Communicates with customers to prepare the best tech;
- Leads the tech team including contracts, performance reviews and evaluations;
- Recruits and supervises tech people.
- Maintains tech equipment
- Manages the maintenance budget, and makes proposals for investments in building and technology;
- Maintains contact with external suppliers and technicians
- Participates in the weekly Operations Meetings to evaluate past events and plan future events.
Desired profile:
- A positive and creative work attitude with a Yes And mentality;
- Communicates well both internally and externally so everything is clear and coordinated.
- Keeps a good overview with an eye for detail;
- Inspires your team and helps them do their job well;
- Has at least three years of experience in a related tech situation with managerial experience;
- Loves innovating in theater and wants to grow our theater’s tech.
- Can work theater hours which of course includes evenings and weekends.
- Likes comedy and improvisation theater.
- Writes and speaks English and ideally also Dutch.
