Kristin Key
Kristin Key grew up as the daughter of a preacher in a small town in West Texas, in an environment where drinking, dancing and instrumental music were forbidden. So she immediately began drinking, dancing and playing an instrument. Key came out of the closet at 15, which was anything but smooth. She looks back on that candidly in her performances with hilarious stories of coming out, crawling back, living in the closet and meeting her wife.
At 19, Key signed up for an open mic night at a local comedy club. As soon as she stepped on stage, she felt right at home. Thanks to her original comedy songs and raunchy humor, small gigs in Texas quickly grew to shows in 35 states and a move to Los Angeles. After 15 years in comedy, Kristin has found a perfect blend of hilarious, thought-provoking true stories, original songs and spontaneous improvisations, making no two shows the same.
Kristin Key is best known for her appearances on NBC, including her debut on the talent show Last Comic Standing, where she finished sixth. Her videos on social media have more than 25 million views and she has more than 275,000 followers. She currently hosts the podcast Kristin Knows Blank, and has recorded five full-length stand-up comedy albums and one studio music comedy album.
