Ballenjongen author Nino Wilkes hosts an exciting and groundbreaking series of live comedy shows at Boom Chicago this year. Working with Boom Chicago’s mainstage cast, Nino invites a different (famous) friend each month for a hysterical celebration of his life.

You are Invited to Opening Night! A special evening with Jelka van Houten and the cast of Boom Chicago
Dutch actress and presenter Jelka van Houten joins the current cast on stage to open the 2024 Boom Chicago Comedy Festival!
Music Improv Spectacular features local and international heroes telling personal stories to inspire the cast, the comedy and the night. Previous guests include Amsterdam mayor Femka Halsema, Ted Lasso star David Elsendoorn, superstar DJs Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano, Johan Cruyff ArenA CEO Director Tanja Dik, serial entrepreneur Ron Simpson and Volkskrant journalist Aaf Brandt Corstius.
The actors will then take her stories to create original, improvised scenes, characters and songs and create an improvised story about her life and her world. Come see why many Boom fans think this is the most impressive, exciting and funniest show we do.
